Teenagers charged in armed home invasion, sexual assault in Cairns

Three teenage boys are facing serious charges after allegedly breaking into a Manunda home in Cairns, threatening residents with a knife, and sexually assaulting a woman. The incident occurred around 3.30am, where the boys demanded property before taking the female resident into a separate room and assaulting her for about 10 to 15 minutes. Two of the teenagers, aged 15 and 16, were arrested shortly after the attack, while a third boy, also aged 15, is still at large. Queensland Premier David Crisafulli condemned the incident as 'sickening and harrowing,' emphasizing the need for justice. Police believe the victims and the assailants were not known to each other, and a crime scene has been established as investigations continue. The two arrested teens are expected to face multiple charges, including rape and armed robbery, in Cairns Children's Court.
