Kipyegon’s Sub-4 Mile Bid Set for 2025

Faith Kipyegon, reigning Olympic and world record-holder in the women's mile and 1,500 meters, will attempt to become the first woman to run a sub-four-minute mile on June 26, 2025, at Stade Charléty in Paris as part of Nike's 'Breaking4' project. She must cut nearly eight seconds from her mile world record of 4:07.64, an unprecedented improvement in the event. The attempt will use advanced Nike technology, male pacers, and environmental optimization but will not be recognized as an official world record. Kipyegon is supported by her coach, pacers, and mentors such as Eliud Kipchoge.
