Congressman Moore proposes Respecting Parents’ Childcare Choices Act to boost funding and flexibility

Congressman Riley M. Moore has introduced the Respecting Parents’ Childcare Choices Act, aimed at significantly increasing funding for the Child Care Development Block Grant (CCDBG) to support low-income and working-class families. The bill would provide vouchers that allow parents to pay relatives or stay-at-home caregivers, thereby increasing flexibility in childcare choices. It seeks to eliminate regulatory hurdles that make it difficult for families to utilize these vouchers for in-home care and removes marriage penalties from the program. Co-sponsored by Representatives Clay Higgins and Brandon Gill, the legislation has garnered support from various pro-family organizations, emphasizing its alignment with conservative pro-life values. Senator Jim Banks has introduced a companion bill in the Senate. Moore argues that the bill empowers families by prioritizing their childcare preferences over bureaucratic options.
