Mason Greenwood Switching Allegiance to Jamaica

Mason Greenwood has officially applied to switch his international allegiance from England to Jamaica, as confirmed by Football Association (FA) CEO Mark Bullingham. Greenwood, who has been playing for Marseille and excelling with 15 goals in Ligue 1, had his England career halted following his arrest in January 2022 on charges that were later dropped. Despite being eligible to represent England again, he has opted for Jamaica, citing personal reasons and a fresh start away from the scrutiny in England. Bullingham stated there was no indication from England's management that Greenwood was not in their future plans, emphasizing that it was a personal decision. Greenwood's one cap for England came in 2020 when he was under 21, allowing him to switch nations under FIFA rules. This decision comes amid his desire to continue his football career without the intense public scrutiny he faced in England.
