Atlanta Beltline Plans $270 Million Housing Development

Atlanta Beltline Inc. has announced a $270 million plan to develop a mixed-use community on a 31-acre site at 425 Chappell Road, which will include over 1,100 housing units, with nearly 30% designated as affordable housing. The project aims to enhance connectivity with nearby public green spaces, MARTA's rail network, and adjacent city-owned land. The Beltline acquired the property in 2021 for approximately $26 million after a previous development proposal stalled. The new plan is expected to build upon that initial vision by increasing density and prioritizing affordable housing, targeting families earning 50% to 120% of the area median income. The development will also feature 5,000 square feet of commercial space and is projected to be completed by 2030, pending necessary approvals. This initiative reflects the Beltline's broader commitment to affordable housing and revitalization in the underinvested Bankhead neighborhood.
