Negeri Sembilan Launches Two Data Centres, Boosting Investment and Jobs

Negeri Sembilan in Malaysia is positioning itself as a new hub for data centers, as neighboring Johor restricts new developments due to resource concerns. Two major projects are underway: a green data center by US investors in Nilai and an artificial intelligence-focused center by Gamuda Berhad in Springhill, Port Dickson. The state was chosen for its strategic location near Klang Valley, robust highway network, and infrastructure capable of supporting high electricity and water demands. Both projects have completed land-related processes and begun earthworks, with anticipated benefits including high-quality job creation, increased investment, and higher tax revenue. The state government plans to construct a 67 million liter-per-day water treatment plant to ensure an adequate water supply and will carefully evaluate future proposals to balance growth with resource sustainability.
