Theodore Roosevelt's Watch Recovered After 37 Years

Theodore Roosevelt’s cherished pocket watch, stolen in 1987 from a Buffalo museum, has been recovered after nearly four decades. The silver watch, given to Roosevelt by his sister in 1898 before he left for the Spanish-American War, resurfaced at a Florida auction house in 2023. The auctioneer, upon verifying its authenticity, contacted the Sagamore Hill National Historic Site. The FBI and National Park Service facilitated its return, and it is now on display at Roosevelt's former home on Long Island. The watch, which accompanied Roosevelt on many significant journeys, is considered a priceless piece of American history.
