Dodgers' Reliever Michael Kopech Returns to Injured List Amid Season Setbacks
Michael Kopech, a key reliever for the Los Angeles Dodgers, has been placed back on the injured list due to right knee inflammation, casting doubt on his availability for the postseason. After undergoing surgery for a torn meniscus and missing much of the season due to a shoulder injury and knee issues, Kopech has struggled with control since his September 1 return, walking eight batters in just 2 2/3 innings. Manager Dave Roberts acknowledged Kopech's physical challenges and inconsistency, noting that while Kopech considers himself pitchable, his performance has not met his usual standards. The Dodgers hope to "reset" Kopech and keep him available for the playoffs, but his uncertain health poses a challenge for the bullpen. In response, the team has recalled right-hander Will Klein from Triple-A to fill the void. Kopech has a 2.45 ERA in 11 innings this season, but his frequent injuries have limited his impact and availability significantly.
