Charlotte Shootings Injure Several; Nashville One Dead

Charlotte experienced multiple shootings Oct. 1–2: on Oct. 2, a shooting along Eddleman Road near I‑85 and an abandoned hotel hospitalized two people — one with life‑threatening injuries and one with minor injuries — and some outlets’ initial reports of a fatality were incorrect. On Oct. 1, a shooting at the Target shopping center near Uptown left one person dead despite life‑saving efforts by an off‑duty officer; homicide detectives are investigating and no arrests have been announced. Also on Oct. 1, a 17‑year‑old was shot on Mount Holly‑Huntersville Road and taken to a hospital with minor injuries; police have not released suspect information. In a separate, unrelated incident in East Nashville, one person was killed and three others were injured in a shooting investigators say stemmed from an apparent altercation. Law enforcement agencies in both cities say investigations are ongoing and are asking anyone with information to contact tip lines.
