Multiple NYC Parades, Festivals Prompt Wide Weekend Street Closures

Several major cities across the U.S. are preparing for significant street closures due to upcoming events and city projects. In New York City, multiple cultural parades and festivals, including the Philippine Independence Day Celebration Parade, the Asian American Pacific Islanders Heritage Parade, and the Guyana Independence Parade, will lead to extensive street closures throughout the weekend. Nashville will experience prolonged road closures from May 29 to June 10 as the CMA Fest takes over downtown, featuring performances from hundreds of country music artists. Toronto is hosting the inaugural We Walk UHNited charity event on May 31, causing road closures from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. to accommodate the walk. In Seattle, a portion of 4th Avenue will close for a First Amendment event at City Hall, affecting multiple bus routes and requiring drivers to seek alternate routes. Additionally, Puyallup, Washington, will have intermittent closures at the intersection of Ninth Avenue Southwest and Fifth Street Southwest in June for underground utility work related to a Festival Street project.
