Trial of Seven Begins in 1993 Mumbai Blasts

The third phase of the trial for the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts has commenced, involving seven accused individuals who were previously absconding. The trial, held in a special TADA court, will examine 41 witnesses as the prosecution seeks to establish links between the accused and the bombings that killed 257 and injured over 700. Among the accused are Farooq Takla and Ahmed Lambu, who allegedly received arms training in Pakistan for the conspiracy linked to the blasts. The earlier trial phases resulted in 106 convictions, including Yakub Memon, who was executed in 2015. Notably, 26 individuals remain at large, complicating the pursuit of justice in this high-profile case. The proceedings reflect ongoing efforts to address one of the deadliest terror attacks in India's history.
