19-Year-Old Arrested After Pursuit Injures Pedestrians
A 19-year-old man from Redwood City, identified as Brian Barbatajimaroa, was arrested after allegedly driving into multiple pedestrians while pursuing a hit-and-run suspect who had collided with his vehicle. Despite police instructions to stop the pursuit, Barbatajimaroa continued chasing the suspect at high speeds, disregarding traffic signals. The incident occurred around 10:06 p.m. on Saturday when the suspect vehicle stopped near a group of pedestrians on King Street, leading Barbatajimaroa to drive into the group, injuring at least two adults seriously. He was subsequently arrested on four counts of assault with a deadly weapon and booked into the San Mateo County Maguire Correctional Facility. The police are still investigating the case and are seeking additional information from the public. Anyone with details is urged to contact the Redwood City Police Department.
