114-Year-Old Naomi Whitehead Becomes Oldest North American

Naomi Whitehead, a 114-year-old woman from Pennsylvania, is now recognized as the oldest living person in North America following the death of Elizabeth Francis on October 22. Born in September 1910 on a Georgia farm, Whitehead attributes her longevity to good genes and a lifestyle free from smoking and alcohol. She enjoys a variety of activities including cooking, baking, drawing, and listening to music. Residing in a senior care community in Greenville West Salem, she has outlived her husband and three sons. Whitehead has expressed no specific goal for her lifespan, stating simply, "I'll live as long as the Lord lets me."
