Streep, Celebrities Evacuate Deadly LA Wildfires

Meryl Streep, along with other celebrities, faced a perilous evacuation during the recent Los Angeles wildfires that destroyed over 16,200 structures and claimed at least 29 lives. When a fallen tree blocked her driveway, Streep borrowed wire cutters from a neighbor to cut a car-sized hole in her fence, allowing her to escape through a neighbor's yard. Her nephew, Abe Streep, detailed this harrowing experience in New York Magazine, which also recounted similar ordeals faced by her co-star Martin Short and actor Haley Joel Osment. Short managed to save family photo albums but faced significant delays due to clogged exits. The fires, including the Palisades and Eaton fires, were among the deadliest in LA history. While Streep’s home survived, some of Short's family properties were lost, illustrating the widespread devastation in celebrity neighborhoods.
