Beshear Vetoes Multiple Significant KY Bills

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has vetoed several significant bills recently passed by the state legislature. Among them, House Bill 6, which aimed to shift governance of major economic impacts to the legislative branch, was vetoed for being unconstitutional and potentially interfering with other legislation. Beshear also vetoed House Bill 90, which was intended to clarify abortion law exceptions but, according to him, risked patient safety and contradicted medical professionals' guidelines. Additionally, he vetoed House Bill 495, which sought to overturn his executive order banning conversion therapy and deny Medicaid funds for gender-affirming care, calling conversion therapy 'torture.' These actions have been met with opposition from the Republican-dominated legislature, which may attempt to override these vetoes in the upcoming session.
