The film, written by Colin McLaughlin, is set in a small Texas town plagued by a creature visible only to drunk people, which feeds on the blood alcohol content of its victims. As the town prepares for its annual brewery festival, Sheriff Red must confront his own demons and drink again to fight the monster and save the community. Buzzkill is described as a blend of A Quiet Place and Another Round, combining horror, comedy, and action elements.
