Wales welcomes Adam Jones to Six Nations coaching staff

Former Wales prop Adam Jones has been appointed as a scrum consultant for Warren Gatland's coaching team ahead of the Six Nations, following a disappointing 2024 campaign without a win. Jones, who has built a strong reputation as a scrum coach at Harlequins, will work alongside forwards coach Jonathan Humphreys and also provide remote assistance to Harlequins during the tournament. Gatland's decision to bolster his staff comes after an independent review by the Welsh Rugby Union, which concluded that changes were necessary to improve team performance. In addition to Jones, psychology and human performance specialist Andy McCann will rejoin the coaching team, aiming to enhance the mental resilience of the players. With the Six Nations starting against France on January 31, Gatland expressed his optimism about the new additions to the coaching staff. Jones, who earned 95 caps for Wales during his playing career, is looking forward to his first experience of coaching at the international level.
