Former School Chaplain Sentenced for Indecent Images of Children

Samuel Erlandson, a 36-year-old former chaplain at St David’s College in Llandudno, has been sentenced for making indecent images of children and possessing extreme pornography. He received a suspended prison sentence of 32 weeks and was ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years, alongside a ten-year sexual harm prevention order. The court heard that Erlandson's actions, which included possessing 'extremely disturbing' images of children aged three to eight, have caused significant distress in the community. Although none of the images involved students from the school, the case raised serious concerns about trust given his position. His defense highlighted that he had fallen into a troubling online environment, impacting both his professional and personal life. The investigating officer emphasized the commitment to addressing such serious offenses, particularly those involving children.
