Four Dead Two-Vehicle Crash Shuts Taconic State Parkway

A tragic two-vehicle crash on the Taconic State Parkway near New Castle resulted in four fatalities and multiple injuries. A southbound Sprinter van crossed the center median into northbound lanes and collided with a Honda sedan, causing the van to overturn and catch fire. Three people in the van died at the scene, and the Honda driver later succumbed to injuries in the hospital. The driver of the Sprinter van remains critically hospitalized. The crash led to extended closures of the northbound lanes as police continue their investigation and seek witnesses. Separately, another two-vehicle crash causing serious injuries occurred near Pahiatua on State Highway 2, with traffic diversions in place.
