Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton withdraws from England squad with groin injury

Wharton, who earned his first England call-up under Thomas Tuchel and previously underwent groin surgery last November, stayed at Palace for scans and recovery rather than joining the national team camp. Manager Oliver Glasner confirmed the injury alongside teammate Ismaila Sarr's hamstring issue and expressed hope that the injuries are not too serious. Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been called up to replace Wharton in the England squad, marking a return to national duty under Tuchel for the former Palace loanee. Despite Wharton's absence, Crystal Palace still have key players Dean Henderson and Marc Guehi representing England in the qualifiers. The club will be hoping all their internationals return healthy as several Palace players are currently on international duty.
