Statesville Man Arrested on Murder Charges After Police Chase

Austin Ty’Kim “Kimbe” Morrison, 23, of Statesville, was arrested by the Statesville Police Department in connection with the June 14 shooting death of Timmy Jaurice Moore. Morrison was apprehended after a brief vehicle pursuit on June 28, during which he drove erratically and fled through residential backyards, eventually abandoning the vehicle and attempting to escape on foot before being captured. He faces multiple charges including murder, larceny of a motor vehicle, felony flee to elude arrest, resisting and obstructing an officer, possession of marijuana, and various traffic violations. Morrison was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center and held without bond on the murder charge. The investigation into Moore’s death remains ongoing, and authorities encourage anyone with information to contact the Statesville Police Department. Morrison is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
