Train-Truck Collisions in NC and Australia
On Tuesday, two separate train accidents involving trucks occurred, one in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, and the other in Victoria, Australia. In Kings Mountain, an Amtrak train collided with a semi-truck at a railroad crossing, resulting in no injuries among the 114 passengers and crew, although the area was shut down for an extended period. The train was traveling from New Orleans to New York City and caused a milk spill and a fuel leak from the truck. Meanwhile, in Victoria, Australia, a train carrying about 50 passengers collided with a truck trailer carrying an excavator, which pierced the side of the carriage, causing minor injuries to several passengers, none of whom required hospitalization. The train drivers in both incidents escaped without serious injuries, and investigations into the causes of the crashes are underway.
