Eni Opens 30,000-Ton Biofuel Plant, Agri-Hub in Republic of Congo

Eni has launched Versalis Oilfield Solutions to consolidate its oilfield chemicals business, enhancing operational efficiency and expanding its presence across key global markets, including Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Asia. Concurrently, Eni inaugurated its first vegetable oil extraction facility in Loudima, Republic of the Congo, capable of producing 30,000 tons annually to supply its biorefineries for renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel production. This agri-hub uses regenerative agriculture on degraded and underutilized lands, aligning with Eni's goal of net-zero emissions by 2050 and complying with the EU Renewable Energy Directive for sustainability and traceability. The project includes advanced mechanization, farmer training, and skill development for approximately 400 local tractor operators, fostering local agro-industrial growth and food security through byproducts like vegetable proteins for livestock feed. The Loudima facility reflects Eni's broader strategy to integrate biofuel production into local economies while maintaining environmental and social standards. The efforts in Congo mark a significant step in Eni's sustainable mobility and energy transition initiatives.
