Detroit Doctor Convicted of Assault, Indecent Exposure of Elderly Woman

Stephen Bruce Mason, a 54-year-old Detroit doctor and healthcare consultant, was convicted of aggravated indecent exposure and assault after making sexual advances and masturbating in front of a 76-year-old Sterling Heights woman he met on Facebook. The incident occurred on August 1, 2024, when Mason drove the woman home from a hair appointment, was invited into her home, and then committed the offenses after she rejected his advances. Prosecutors emphasized that Mason's actions were a grave violation of law and human dignity, underscoring that no one is above the law regardless of professional status. Mason was also charged as a habitual offender, which may lead to aggravated sentencing. The jury deliberated for one hour before convicting him, and sentencing is scheduled for October 30, 2025, before Circuit Court Judge Joseph Toia. Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to protecting vulnerable victims and holding those who prey on the elderly fully accountable.
