Lakewood Driver Faces Grand Jury in Fatal Crash

Zachary Saliba, a 29-year-old Lakewood resident, has been charged with felony aggravated vehicular homicide in connection with the death of Bill Safos, a former Cleveland journalist, who was struck by Saliba's vehicle on December 11, 2024. Safos was attempting to cross the street at the intersection of Hilliard Road and Madison Avenue, not in a crosswalk, when hit. Video footage highlighted Saliba's reckless driving as a factor in the incident. Safos was transported to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The case has been transferred to a Cuyahoga County grand jury for further proceedings.
