McKendree Water Polo Coach Dies in Highway Crash

Colleen Lischwe, the head coach for both the men's and women's water polo teams at McKendree University, tragically died in a crash on Interstate 44 when her car was struck by a semi-truck. The incident occurred when the truck driver, who was reportedly distracted, failed to slow down and collided with Lischwe's vehicle, which was then pushed off the highway. Lischwe, recognized for her pioneering role as the only female head coach of a men's NCAA water polo team, was celebrated for her leadership and dedication to her athletes. A GoFundMe campaign was launched to support her family, quickly raising significant funds. Lischwe was known for her charismatic personality and was a beloved figure in the McKendree community, having made significant contributions to the university's water polo programs. She is survived by her husband and a young daughter.
