Marco Cochrane's R-Evolution Sculpture Unveiled in San Francisco

San Francisco's Union Square will host Marco Cochrane's 45-foot-tall sculpture, R-Evolution, from February 6 through May 2025, celebrating feminine strength and empowerment. Originally unveiled at Burning Man in 2015, the sculpture features a unique 'breathing' kinetic element and is constructed from steel and stainless steel mesh, illuminated at night for added effect. City leaders and local merchants hope the installation will revitalize the downtown shopping district, which has struggled post-pandemic, attracting up to 7 million visitors. The unveiling event will include live music and festivities, aiming to foster community engagement and appreciation for public art. The project is supported by the Union Square Alliance and funded by The Sijbrandij Foundation, emphasizing San Francisco's cultural identity as a hub for creativity. This initiative reflects the city’s commitment to transforming public spaces into vibrant cultural destinations.
