A month-long investigation by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) led to the arrest of Claudia Cruz, 35, who was found in possession of more than $450,000 worth of stolen merchandise. Cruz was charged with organized retail crime, possession of stolen property, and conspiracy to commit a crime. The investigation, which began in July, targeted a criminal network involved in a series of retail thefts across the Bay Area. Search warrants executed on August 15 at Cruz's residence, vehicles, and a storage facility revealed a large quantity of stolen goods, primarily from drug stores. Cruz was booked into Alameda County Jail following the operation.
