King Charles Leads UK in VE Day 80th Anniversary Tributes

King Charles will lead the nation in commemorating the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day with a series of events honoring war veterans. A special Service of Thanksgiving will take place at Westminster Abbey, attended by senior royals including Queen Camilla, the Prince and Princess of Wales, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, alongside Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and hundreds of veterans. On May 8, the King will also preside over a ceremony at the Cenotaph, marking the end of World War II in Europe. The UK government has outlined plans for nationwide events, including a concert at Horse Guards Parade and a flypast featuring the RAF's Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and the Red Arrows. A parade will also march from Westminster Abbey up Whitehall, passing by the historic balcony where Winston Churchill addressed the public on VE Day. Thousands of people are expected to join in celebrations across the country, including street parties, to honor the sacrifices made by veterans.
