Driver, 50, faces charges after fatal crash, speed, cocaine involved

Angelo Ragonese, 50, has been charged with multiple offenses including DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide following a high-speed crash in Pompano Beach on September 17 that resulted in the death of William Windhurst, 76. Ragonese, driving a BMW M4 with his minor son as a passenger, collided with Windhurst's Toyota Camry at the intersection of East Atlantic Boulevard and Northeast 15th Avenue. The crash, which occurred as Windhurst attempted a left turn, sent the Camry into a nearby bank. Toxicology reports confirmed Ragonese had cocaine in his system and was speeding at over 120 mph shortly before the collision. Witnesses reported Ragonese's aggressive and abnormal behavior post-crash. Both Ragonese and his son sustained minor injuries, while Windhurst succumbed to his injuries two days later in hospice care.
