Yvonne Ngoiri Receives Life Sentence for 2022 Worcester Arson Murder of 4
Yvonne Ngoiri, a 39-year-old former tenant, pleaded guilty to four counts of second-degree murder and multiple arson and assault charges related to a fire in Worcester that killed four people on May 14, 2022. She was sentenced to four life sentences with the possibility of parole after 20 years, alongside additional sentences for arson and assault. The fire, which was determined to be incendiary, claimed the lives of Joseph Garchali, Christopher Lozeau, Vincent Page, and Marcel Fontaine, while also injuring others and displacing over 20 residents. Prosecutors indicated Ngoiri had been drinking and was upset with her landlord on the night of the fire. District Attorney Joseph Early expressed hope that the sentencing would bring some closure to the victims' families. The incident has drawn significant attention due to the tragic loss of life and the circumstances surrounding the fire.
