Robert Eggers Plans Labyrinth Sequel for TriStar Pictures

Robert Eggers, known for his work on Nosferatu, has officially signed on to write and direct a sequel to the beloved 1986 film Labyrinth, as reported by Deadline. This follow-up will be produced by TriStar Pictures, with Eggers collaborating with his frequent writing partner Sjón. The sequel aims to build on the original's themes while potentially offering a darker and more mature reimagining. While details of the plot remain under wraps, there is considerable speculation about how the film will address the legacy of David Bowie's iconic portrayal of Jareth, the Goblin King. The production team includes industry veterans such as Chris and Eleanor Columbus, Lisa Henson, and Brian Henson. Given Eggers' commitments to other projects, production on Labyrinth 2 is not expected to commence until late 2026 or 2027.
