Cannavaro sacked as Dinamo Zagreb coach after 14 games

Fabio Cannavaro has been fired as head coach of Dinamo Zagreb after just over three months in charge, following a disappointing tenure that included elimination from the Champions League and a third-place position in the Croatian league, eight points behind leaders Hajduk Split. Cannavaro, who previously captained Italy to victory in the 2006 World Cup, oversaw 14 competitive matches, achieving five wins, two draws, and three losses. His dismissal marks the third coaching change for Dinamo this season, with assistant coach Sandro Perkovic now taking over. The club expressed gratitude for Cannavaro's efforts but acknowledged that recent performances were unsatisfactory, culminating in a 3-0 defeat to Istra 1961. Cannavaro's coaching career includes previous roles in China and Italy, and he was appointed by Dinamo on a contract that was set to last until 2026.
