Kala Pola 2025, Sri Lanka's open-air art fair, attracted a record 394 artists and generated approximately Rs. 54 million in sales, showcasing the vibrancy of the country's visual arts community. The event, held on February 16, was marked by the presence of British High Commissioner Andrew Patrick, who acknowledged its role in launching many artists' careers. Meanwhile, Shalini Passi is revolutionizing the Indian art scene by creating platforms for emerging artists through the Shalini Passi Art Foundation, aiming to democratize access to art. Additionally, an international conference at Kurukshetra University highlighted the intersection of contemporary Indian art and the global market, emphasizing the importance of traditional roots in modern artistic expressions. In a celebration of artistic contributions, Prathibha Prahlad discussed her foundation's efforts to promote and preserve the arts, particularly through productions like 'Saamarthya', which focuses on women's roles in epic narratives.
