Harriet Dart Nears Australian Open Qualification

Harriet Dart has advanced to the final round of Australian Open qualifying after a comeback victory over Australian teenager Taylah Preston, winning 6-7 (6) 6-1 6-2. Despite a strong start, Heather Watson was eliminated after losing to American Varvara Lepchenko 3-6 6-3 6-1. Dart's performance included overcoming an early service break and saving multiple set points in the first set before dominating the second and third sets. Meanwhile, British player Billy Harris also secured his place in the final qualifying round with a swift 6-1 6-2 win over Spain's Carlos Taberner. Dart will face Japan's Nao Hibino next, while Harris aims for his first Grand Slam main-draw appearance against Poland's Kamil Majchrzak. Other British players, including Francesca Jones, are also competing for a spot in the main draw, which will commence on Sunday.
