Prosecutor Seeks Reinstatement of Baldwin Manslaughter Charge

Special prosecutor Kari Morrissey has requested that New Mexico Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer reconsider her decision to dismiss the involuntary manslaughter charge against Alec Baldwin in the fatal 'Rust' shooting incident. The judge had dismissed the case with prejudice in July, citing prosecutorial misconduct for withholding crucial evidence that could have benefited Baldwin's defense. Morrissey argues that the withheld ammunition was not intentionally concealed and was irrelevant to the case. Baldwin's defense had previously leveraged the sudden revelation of the ammunition to secure the dismissal. The judge's original ruling was based on discovery violations and false testimony. If reinstated, the case will focus on Baldwin's responsibility in safely handling the firearm that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
