Nationals Place LHP Andrew Chafin on 15-Day Injured List

The Washington Nationals placed left-hander Andrew Chafin on the 15-day injured list retroactive to June 11 due to a right hamstring strain. Chafin, 34, has pitched 11 1/3 innings this season with a 3.18 ERA and 2.03 WHIP, recording 14 strikeouts and 11 walks over 16 relief appearances. He has not played since June 8 and is expected to be sidelined until late June. To fill the bullpen vacancy, the Nationals recalled right-hander Ryan Loutos from Triple-A Rochester. Loutos, 26, was claimed off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers and has posted a 2.75 ERA with three saves and 16 strikeouts in 19 2/3 innings across three Triple-A teams this season. He has made two relief appearances for the Dodgers this year, allowing five runs in three innings.
