Hungary's Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto accused the European Commission of complicity in the disruption of oil supplies from Russia to Hungary and Slovakia, following Ukraine's sanctions against Russian oil producer Lukoil. He suggested that the Commission's refusal to mediate in the dispute indicated a directive from Brussels to Kyiv to create energy supply issues for the two countries. Despite these allegations, a Commission spokesperson noted no evidence that Ukraine's sanctions had jeopardized European energy supplies, as oil continues to flow through the Druzhba pipeline. Hungary and Slovakia have been vocal in their opposition to Western military aid to Ukraine amidst the ongoing conflict with Russia. The European Commission has remained focused on gathering information regarding the situation and has not directly responded to Szijjarto’s claims. Meanwhile, Hungary's oil company MOL is reportedly working on ensuring continued crude oil flow from Russia.
