MDA Space Secures $60M Sensor Contracts for Canadian River-Class Destroyers

MDA Space Ltd. has been awarded C$60 million contracts to deliver and integrate two advanced sensor systems for the first three ships of Canada's Royal Canadian Navy River-class Destroyer program, a key part of the country's National Shipbuilding Strategy. These sensors will enhance situational awareness and protect the vessels against laser and optical guided threats, supporting a wide range of naval missions. The ships are being constructed by Irving Shipbuilding at the Halifax Shipyard, with Lockheed Martin Canada leading the combat management system design and integration alongside MDA and other defense contractors. The contract underscores MDA Space's role as a long-term Canadian defense partner, with sensor development taking place across multiple Canadian facilities.
