Pink Floyd Restored 'Pompeii' Film IMAX Release

The iconic concert film 'Pink Floyd at Pompeii - MCMLXXII,' directed by Adrian Maben, is set to be re-released in IMAX and cinemas worldwide on April 24, accompanied by a new live album on May 2. This restored version presents a 90-minute cut with enhanced 4K visuals and audio remixed by Steven Wilson, featuring performances in the ancient Roman Amphitheatre at Pompeii and behind-the-scenes footage of 'The Dark Side of the Moon' recording sessions. The project was made possible after the discovery of the original 35mm negatives in Pink Floyd's archives, which Lana Topham, Director of Restoration, had been searching for since 1994. The film includes live renditions of tracks like 'Echoes' and 'A Saucerful of Secrets,' showcasing the band's artistry before their commercial breakthrough with 'The Dark Side of the Moon.' This marks the first time the music from the film will be released as a stand-alone album, available in various formats including Dolby Atmos and vinyl.
