Scottie Scheffler, NTPGA Plan Free Randy Smith Junior Golf Tour Across Texas

Scottie Scheffler, the world No. 1 golfer and Dallas native, is partnering with the Northern Texas PGA Foundation and his wife Meredith to launch the Randy Smith Junior Tour, a free golf circuit for children ages 6 to 12. Named after Scheffler's longtime coach and mentor Randy Smith, the tour aims to make junior golf more accessible by eliminating fees and focusing on fun, learning, sportsmanship, and character rather than competition. Scheduled to begin in spring 2026, the tour will initially host 10-12 events across North, East, and West Texas, with plans to expand to 20-25 events in 2027. The program emphasizes mentorship, with trained high school golfers guiding participants and parents encouraged to spectate but not caddie. Scheffler has expressed that the tour is about passing on the values of respect and community that Randy Smith instilled in him. This initiative addresses rising costs and declining youth sports participation by providing an inclusive and supportive environment for young golfers.
