Trenton Man Charged in Child Sexual Assault

Jose Agustin-Hernandez, a 51-year-old man from Trenton, has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl during an evening prayer service at an in-home chapel on December 23. The child reportedly escaped the assault and informed a family member, prompting immediate action from those present who attempted to pursue the suspect but lost sight of him. Subsequently, investigators from the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office and Trenton police utilized witness interviews and surveillance footage to identify Agustin-Hernandez, leading to his arrest on December 29. He faces serious charges including first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree criminal sexual contact, and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child. The prosecutor's office has filed a motion to detain him pending trial, and the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
