Two Australian Women Players Allegedly Touched in India
Two members of Australia’s women’s cricket team were allegedly approached and touched inappropriately by a man on a motorbike while walking to a café in Indore during the ICC Women’s World Cup the morning after Australia’s six-wicket win over England. Team security reported the incident to local police and Cricket Australia said the matter has been raised and is under investigation. Local outlets report police have identified and arrested a suspect and CCTV images of a moped are circulating in Indian media. The players have been offered support and are believed to be OK to continue in the tournament, and Indian authorities have reportedly assured the team of their safety for the remainder of the tour. Australia remain undefeated and are preparing to face South Africa in their final group match, aiming for a place in the semi-finals.
