WWE Charlotte Flair Faces Highest Online Harassment Among Athletes
A comprehensive study by CryptoManiaks analyzing over four million social media posts from April 30, 2024, to April 30, 2025, revealed that WWE superstar Charlotte Flair faces the highest levels of online harassment among athletes across major sports leagues including the NFL, NBA, and WWE/AEW. Charlotte Flair received a staggering 36.4% negativity rating, surpassing other prominent athletes such as Patrick Mahomes and LeBron James, and topping all wrestlers in the study. Female wrestlers are disproportionately targeted, with the top five most harassed wrestlers all being women, including Nia Jax, Mercedes Mone, Saraya, and Tegan Nox, highlighting the severe abuse female wrestlers endure online. The study also noted that wrestlers overall experience more online abuse than athletes in other sports, with male wrestlers like CM Punk receiving significantly less negativity compared to their female counterparts. Flair has spoken openly about the emotional toll of this online hate and her personal struggles, including her recent divorce, which have been publicly spotlighted during her WWE storylines. While some of the abuse may relate to the characters wrestlers portray on screen, the extreme levels of harassment reflect a broader issue of fan hostility toward female wrestling athletes.
