Pokémon Legends: Z-A will launch on October 16, 2025, for both the Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Switch 2, with the Switch 2 offering enhanced graphics and framerates. Players who purchase the Switch version can upgrade to Switch 2 for a $10 fee. The game introduces real-time battle mechanics and is set entirely within Lumiose City, a shift from previous games’ broader regional exploration, which has raised concerns about limited biome diversity. Mega Evolutions return as a central gameplay and merchandising feature, with exclusive themed products now available. Digital preorders open June 5, physical preorders start July 23, and a Pokémon Presents livestream is scheduled for July 22 with more details.
