Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on charges of money laundering and land fraud. After his arrest, which came post seven hours of interrogation, he resigned from his position and his party loyalist, Champai Soren, has been named as his successor. Soren has appealed his arrest to the Supreme Court and Jharkhand High Court, and the case is set to be heard on Friday.
