Xavier Carter, 23, charged with assaulting woman on Murfreesboro trail

An 18-year-old woman was attacked while running on a walking trail behind Oakland’s Park in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, around 8:30 a.m. on Monday. Police identified Xavier Carter, 23, as the suspect, and later the same day, arrested him following a reported theft at a nearby gas station. Carter faces charges of kidnapping, sexual battery, and theft related to both the trail attack and the shoplifting incident at the gas station. He is currently being held at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on a $30,000 bond, with a court hearing scheduled for June 3. Authorities continue to investigate and urge anyone with information to come forward.
