Five Family Members Jailed for Obstructing Ashling Murphy Murder Investigation

Five family members of Jozef Puska, who murdered Ashling Murphy in 2022, have been sentenced to prison for obstructing justice by withholding information and destroying evidence related to the case. Puska's brothers, Marek and Lubomir, received 30-month sentences each, while their wives, Jozefina and Viera Gaziova, were sentenced to 21 and 24 months respectively. Puska's partner, Lucia Istokova, was jailed for 20 months for failing to disclose critical details about the murder and concealing evidence. The victim's family expressed deep anger and frustration over the defendants' actions, condemning their lack of honesty and accountability, and highlighting the emotional toll and public cost of the legal proceedings. Ashling Murphy was fatally stabbed while jogging in Tullamore, County Offaly, and Puska is serving a life sentence for her murder. The court emphasized the need for the sentences to reflect the harm caused by these deliberate acts of complicity.
