BYD, a Chinese carmaker, became the world's largest electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer in 2023, selling 3.024 million vehicles, including 1.57 million EVs and 1.4 million hybrids. This surpasses Tesla, which sold 1.8 million EVs in the same year. Despite not currently selling any vehicles in the US, BYD saw a 334% increase in exports, predominantly to Singapore, Thailand, Brazil, and Mexico, and intends to penetrate the European market in 2024.
