Regina Police Chief Farooq Sheikh Suspended Amid Investigation

Regina Police Chief Farooq Sheikh has been suspended with pay pending an investigation into a public complaint against him, as mandated by the Regina Board of Police Commissioners. The nature of the complaint remains undisclosed, but the board emphasizes its responsibility to maintain public confidence in the police service during the review process. Deputy Chief Lorilee Davies has been appointed as the Acting Police Chief during Sheikh's suspension. The Public Complaints Commission (PCC), an independent body appointed by the provincial government, is overseeing the investigation. The board has stated that no further comments will be made until the PCC concludes its work, at which point the public will be informed. Sheikh assumed the role of police chief in December 2023, after his tenure with the Alberta Sheriffs.
